World Mental Health Day 2025

Last Friday was World Mental Health Day, a reminder that mental and emotional wellbeing deserve more than occasional attention. This year’s theme is “Access to Services, Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies.”

In times of crisis, whether global or personal, access to mental health support often breaks down. The consequences can be devastating.

At Phoenix Bay, we believe:

• Wellbeing can’t be an afterthought, it must weave through every classroom, corridor, and check-in.

• Early access to therapeutic support saves years of pain.

• Safe environments and consistent relationships are services too, sometimes the most important ones

• We all have a role in dismantling stigma, normalising conversations, and demanding change.

We’ll pause. We’ll listen. We’ll check in.

But we’ll also recommit: not to just talk about mental health, but to live it, in policy, practice, and culture.

Because when access fails, so many young people suffer alone. And when access succeeds, when support is timely, humane, and present, the difference is transformative.
