Torbay Relational Practice Conference 2024

This week, I had the privilege of delivering a presentation at the Torbay Relational Practice Conference – and what an inspiring day it was!

The event itself was awe-inspiring.

I listened to incredible keynote speeches from Dr Lisa Cherry FRSA and Nick Barwick, which were both moving and thought-provoking.

Meeting and networking with professionals like Rebecca Thompson Divisional Director of Safeguarding at Torbay and Frances Bestley Programme Director at UNICEF was a highlight.

A special thank you to Rebecca Ruston for organising such an impactful event and for allowing me to be part of it!

It was an honour to share how relational practice is embedded into every part of life at Phoenix Bay School.

I covered how relational practice at Phoenix Bay School isn’t just about fostering good relationships – it’s a philosophy of trust, empathy, and connection that shapes everything we do.

From the classroom to the playground and even to family engagement, it’s the foundation of how we create an environment where every student feels valued, understood, and empowered.

I shared insights into how this approach supports both academic growth and emotional development while building a thriving, inclusive community.
