On Friday, October 18th, our Phoenix Bay staff and students proudly stood together, wearing red to show our support for Show Racism the Red Card!
In our PSHE and SEMH lessons, students and staff engaged in discussions about white privilege and racism, sparking important conversations and reflections.
We challenged each other to recognise the role we all play in combating racism, both in and out of the classroom.
Creativity was in full force as our students took part in a competition to design a football boot and shirt that symbolised the fight against racism.
Thanks to Show Racism the Red Card for inspiring this important initiative!
“Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC) is the UK’s leading anti-racism educational charity. It was established in January 1996, thanks in part to a donation by then Newcastle United goalkeeper Shaka Hislop.
Across the UK, SRtRC provides educational sessions to more than 50,000 individuals per year and hosts the UK’s largest equalities-themed School Competition. In 2023, SRtRC surpassed the landmark milestone of engaging 1 million people in these programmes.”
Together, we can create change.
Let’s continue to stand up, speak out, and show racism the red card!
